UNUSUAL but USUAL

Hello everyone. This week we did something both familiar with everyone and at the same time it is not. What we did with my friend is creating a story podcast. Well this part is the usual one but the topic of the podcast is not. We choose to do a 90 second horror story. We on our own wrote a unique story, added sound effects and aimed it to address every English language learner who loves horror stories (except for young learners.)

Me and Zeynep Büyükkalaycı -my friend with whom I created the podcast- went to Marmara University in saturday afternoon and created both shooting script, the sound effects and the sounds that we actually did rather than taking from Youtube. I personally really enjoyed the process of the task we were given beacuse the atmosphere we chose to do the task was scary too. Finding a story idea was easy peasy for me because I read horror stories on a regular basis. But in the recording part I had difficulties due to the time limitation. We had to record it at least 8 times in order it to be perfect and the sounds to be lucid. You can find Zeynep's blog in here if you want to hear her opinions on this task.

I would give my students a podcast homework in future because;

• It is first of all motivates students to work in pairs/groups.

• It is an entertaining activity.

• It stimulates the creative abilities of students.

• Finally it is a chance to hear shy students who hesitate to speak in classroom.
